Connor and I went to see the Las Vegas 51's last night, and had a really great time. Connor has been fond of Cosmo, the 51's mascot, for a long time, and loves to greet him each time we go to the game. Also, Connor has just learned "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," and belted it out for me.
On a side note, by the closest of margins at the call at first base, we missed seeing a triple play.

My niece, Morgan Evans (center in this photo) from Yuma, Arizona, had a nice write-up in our hometown paper, the Yuma Sun, this past week (it was a writeup of these three girls who played sports in High School). Morgan is the center fielder for the Arizona Western College Lady Matadors softball team, and I am so proud of her. She is a beautiful young lady, going to college on a full ride scholarship, has a very nice boyfriend (who is a basketball player from Las Vegas), and is dear to my heart. Morgan was a baby when I graduated from college, and after being around her, and baby sitting every once in a while, I decided all I ever wanted was a baby girl (I am so happy to have my baby girl Chloe). I love you, Morgan!

This is the whole gang, less three older nephews. We had about 125 at the party.
Dixie & Jerry Power. I've known them my whole life, and they were a big part of my growing up in the church, where they would teach bible study, serve as youth group directors, and Jerry must have drove me to camp at least 8 times growing up. There aren't a whole lot of people I love more than Dixie Power- she has always been like a second mom to me....
My little sister Lisa and her husband, Cory, from Decatur, Illinois.... I put this here because I'm sure Lisa hates this picture. She's much prettier than this...
Grace Naruto (I forget her married name) and Carletta (Turner) Ooten, my little sistrs best friends growing up. I love it when I get to see them, and try to make them laugh with old stories about growing up, and the dumb stuff we used to do. They both have beautiful children- this is Carletta's daughter, Claire.

Yesterday Annette and I took my Gospel Service leadership (our Gospel service is our 8:30AM Sunday service where we sing hymns, southern gospel, and black gospel music) and their spouses to a luncheon at the Las Vegas National Golf Club, which was sponsored by Media Fellowship International. From time to time I do video projects for KEEN-TV here in Vegas, and get invited to attend. The guest speakers for this luncheon were singers Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. We had a wonderful meal, great fellowship, and heard from two of the five members of "The Fifth Dimension." What more could you ask for? They spoke about sharing Christ in the entertainment industry.
Clockwise from top left: My second favorite soloist at Green Valley, Frank Hill; my Choir President, and a fine soloist herself, Edna Harris; Edna's husband, Fletcher Harris, Sr.; Billy Davis, Jr.; and Marilyn McCoo Sr.

Here's the first of several posts from my mom's 80th birthday celebration in Yuma, Arizona, last weekend.
Here's my family, minus dad, who passed in 1990. Back row is me and my brother, Ed Simpson. Middle row, from left, are my sisters Mona Evans and Freda Arnold; mom; and sisters Jeanette Chiles and Lauretta Simpson. On the ground is my little sister Lisa Barrows. The order form oldest to youngest is Laurette, Jeanette, Freda, Ramona, Edidie, David, and Lisa.
Mom, holding her dad's namesake, Caleb Benjamin (my grandpa was Benjamin Ashe). I learned more about my grandpa this weekend from my Aunt Elaine and cousins Brenda and Ellen, in from the east coast for the party (pictures to come soon).
Lisa finally got to see Chloe and Caleb. Chloe is her namesake- she is Lisa Violet, and Chloe is Chloe Violet. Chloe loves aunt Lisa!
All of my kids cousins, minus four. My kids love geting together and playing with all the cousins more than they love Christmas Day, I think.
