Connor and I went to see the 51's play Tucson tonight, and he got to see his favorite 51, their mascot, Cosmo. The mayor of las Vegas, Oscar Goodman, threw out the first pitch. He was escorted by two showgirls, and had to have one hold his coat, and the other hold his oversized martini glass. Only in Vegas...

Denver and the Mile High Orchestra is a really great Christian band. We've had them at our church twice. They're in town this week, and needed a place to rehearse today, so they called, and I had them over. I always try to expose Connor to new things, especially all things musical, so at noon, right before they gave our church staff a mini concert, I went home and got Connor. He thought it was pretty cool, and afterwards, talked Denver's ear off. You can find out more about DMHO at www.denvermho.com.

Caleb is a great kid! All of our children are (ahem) exceptionally bright, but I think Caleb is going to give the others a run for their money. He is extremely alert, and knows what's going on at all times. If I wink at him, he starts wiggling and giggling (Annette used to do the same thing when I would wink at her back in the day). He will be seven months old on August 24. We love Caleb!

Chloe is a little stinker. She has a million smiles and funny things for me every day, but if I turn the camera on her, she thinks it's a gun or something. Here's a good one we got out of her by having Annette tickle her as a took the photo. Chloe!
We had a great surprise today. Our good friends Mark and Julie Osterberg from Tucson were in for the weekend, and came to our church service this morning. We all went out for dinner tonight at the Bootlegger, and had pizza (they have great pies). We talked and had a great time.
I took Connor to see the 51's play the Sacramento team last Friday night. We had free tickets from our friend Steve Fortgang. Before the game started, Connor was down by the railing, waving to the Sacramento players. Their shortstop, Gregorio Petit, came by and talked with Connor, and gave him a baseball. Sacramento is the AAA affiliate of the Oakland A's, and the 51's are the Dodgers AAA farm team.
It was seventeen years ago last Friday that my dad passed away. August 10, and it was a Friday, too. Can't believe how fast the time goes by.

When I was in sixth grade, the Gong Show came out on TV, and my little sister Lisa and I would watch every day. I have always loved the absurdity and the randomness of it, so when I found this clip over the weekend, I literally fell on the floor laughing. It is funny on about five different levels. If you want to know what I think is truly funny, watch this clip.
Oh, and for all you other die-hard Gong Show fans- I won't bore you with the details, but in 1984 I actually shook hands with Gene, Gene the Dancin' Machine at the NBC studios in Burbank. Nuff said.
Have a great day!
